For professionals and community organisations

One-to-one support that helps people take part.

Companionship and practical support for adults who want more connection, confidence getting out, or continuity after a short period of support.

A person alongside, not just a place to go

A community activity can be the right suggestion, yet the person may still struggle to attend. They may want someone they know to make the journey, walk in with them and stay while they settle in.

Whitegreen provides consistent, person-led companionship across Greater Manchester. Visits can take place at home or in the community and are shaped around the person's interests, choices and everyday goals.

When to discuss an enquiry with us

  • The person wants regular one-to-one company or more contact during the week.
  • They want to attend an activity or appointment with someone alongside them.
  • A short intervention is ending and they want support to continue a useful routine.
  • They are returning home from hospital and companionship would complement the agreed discharge arrangements.
  • Family or other support is in place, but there are periods when the person wants additional company.

We discuss each proposed arrangement with the person and, with their consent, the professionals involved. Suitability depends on the support required during the visit, not simply a diagnosis or referral label.

Agree a purpose the person recognises

“Go back to the Thursday group.” “Get to my appointment.” “Have someone to talk to on a Sunday.” A clear starting point helps us plan useful visits and ask afterwards whether they are working.

We can agree practical goals and review points, recording activities, the person's feedback and changes they want. With permission, relevant updates can be shared with the agreed contact.

A practical part of prevention

Keeping a routine, having regular contact and taking part in chosen activities are everyday goals that give early support a clear purpose. We start with what the person wants to maintain or change, then review the visits with them. This gives a referral more direction than simply arranging a set number of hours.

Continuity and communication

We introduce your named companion and agree the routine before visits start. A named backup is introduced within the first month, and your companion writes a note after every visit. The person meets the companion before deciding to book. We establish who to contact about arrangements or concerns and how any handover will work.

Our role is companionship and light practical support. We work alongside existing services; personal care, clinical treatment and crisis response remain with the appropriate providers.

Making the first enquiry

With the person's consent, tell us their general location, the purpose of the visits, likely timing and the best contact for an initial conversation. Tell us about other support that affects the proposed arrangement. Please arrange a private discussion before sending detailed health records.

Call 07888 874689, email hello@whitegreencompanions.co.uk, or make an enquiry. We will discuss the proposed support, availability, costs and next step.

Funding and commissioning

Whitegreen is a paid service. Visits can be arranged privately. Where a personal budget, direct payment or organisation is intended to cover the cost, the relevant approval and payment arrangements must be agreed before visits begin. A referral alone does not confirm funding.

We welcome conversations about referral pathways and commissioned work. Tell us the need, the expected service and your provider requirements so we can discuss a specific proposal.
