We are recruiting companions across Greater Manchester. This is not a fifteen-minute call round. It is a small number of regular people you get to know properly, and it is paid accordingly.

We pay above the National Living Wage of £12.71, for all working time — including travel between visits, not just the time in the house. The rate for each role is on its job posting.
The December 2025 median independent-sector homecare rate was £12.60.
2 hrs
The length of a standard visit. Long enough to do the job properly and to make the working day pay.
Three two-hour visits is six billable hours in about seven and a half worked.
3 miles
Roughly how far your clients will be from your own front door. Most rounds are walkable or a very short drive.
We build each companion's round around where they live.
Same
The same clients, the same days, every week. You will know their names, their families and their stories.
Continuity is the product, so it is protected in the rota.
- Guaranteed minimum hours in your contract. We do not use zero-hours contracts, and 42% of the domiciliary care workforce is on one.
- Paid travel between visits, as the law requires and as too much of the sector still gets wrong.
- Mileage at 45p a mile for outings in your own car.
- Holiday pay accrued on every hour worked.
- Training paid for, before your first visit, not in your own time afterwards.
- Two shadow visits and a proper sign-off before you visit anybody alone.
- Monthly supervision with someone who does the visits too and knows what you are describing.
- A clear boundary. You will never be asked to do personal care, and you will be backed if you decline it.

A description without the padding
You visit two, three or four regular people a week each, for two hours at a time, on fixed days. You talk to them. You make a cup of tea and often a meal. You walk to the shop, the hairdresser or the community centre. You do the bits of housework that would otherwise sit there.
Afterwards you write two or three lines to the family about how the visit went. That note is one of the most valued things we do, and it takes you a couple of minutes.
You will never provide personal care. No washing, bathing, dressing, toileting, help with eating, or giving medication — not even prompting and supervising those things. If a client asks, you say no, you tell the office the same day, and we sort it out. That is a condition of the job and it protects you as much as it protects them.

What matters
- You are genuinely good company, and you listen more than you talk
- You turn up, on the day, at the time, every week
- You live in Greater Manchester, and you are happy to work close to home
- You are free during the day, Monday to Friday
- You can write two clear sentences about how a visit went
- A second language, especially one spoken locally, is genuinely useful to us
What we need
- An unrestricted right to work in the UK, evidenced by a Home Office share code or original documents before your interview. We do not hold a sponsor licence.
- Two references, one from your most recent employer, which we verify by phone.
- An enhanced DBS check with the adults' barred list, which we arrange and pay for. If you are already on the DBS Update Service at that level, we can check it instantly.
- A driving licence and a car are useful but not essential.
- Care experience is welcome and is not required. Being good with people is.
