Who would the visits be for?

The first part is enough. It tells us straight away whether we reach that area yet.

What would help most?

Tick as many as apply. Nothing here is binding.

Does the person need help with washing, dressing, the toilet or taking medication?

We ask because it is the one thing we are not allowed to do. It is far better to find out now than after a visit is booked.

How do we reach you?

Please do not send detailed health information here. Enough to know whether we are the right service is plenty; the rest is better said on the telephone.

We reply within one working hour, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. We use your details only to answer your enquiry, and we never pass them to anyone else.

Within one working hour

A person replies. If we cannot reach your area yet we tell you immediately rather than booking a call.

The same day

A twenty-minute conversation about the person, their week and what would actually help.

Within five working days

A free meet-and-greet at home with the companion we have in mind. No charge and no obligation.

Within ten working days

The first visit, then the same companion at the same time every week.

We take enquiries from all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester, and we will always tell you honestly whether we have a companion near you yet.

What we do, and what we do not

Companionship is the whole job, not a line on a rota

Most home care agencies offer companionship as one item inside a care package. It is the first thing squeezed when the round runs late. We do not run a care round, so there is nothing for your visit to be squeezed by.

Doing one thing means we can say exactly what it is, in writing, before you book.

Whitegreen Companions provides non-regulated independent living support. We do not provide personal care, nursing care, clinical care or any other activity regulated by the Care Quality Commission. Our companions can remind you to take medication but never administer it. If your needs change, we will help you find a registered care provider.

Personal care is defined in regulation 2 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. If it is what your family needs, tell us and we will help you find a provider registered to give it — at no charge and with no commission to us.
