Companionship in later life

Keep doing the things you enjoy, with someone to share them.

A familiar companion for conversation, outings and practical help. Visits built around your interests and the way you like to spend your time.

Two adults spending time together

Your week should still feel like yours

Perhaps you miss going to the market, meeting someone for lunch or having a proper conversation at home. You might be managing well on your own but would enjoy more company. Or a change in your circumstances has made some everyday things harder to arrange.

Whitegreen gives you time with someone who gets to know you. Your companion can join you at home or out and about, with practical help included where you want it.

Familiar interests and new plans

Talk about the news, listen to music, look through photographs or enjoy a shared hobby. Go to a favourite shop, take a walk or visit somewhere you have been meaning to go. We ask what you enjoy rather than giving you a set list of activities.

If your energy varies, we can talk about a plan for home as well as an outing. The visit belongs to you, including the choice to change your mind.

The person matters as much as the plan

You meet the companion before deciding to book. Tell us what makes conversation easy for you, what you enjoy talking about and how you like your home and routine respected.

You have the same named companion for regular visits, with a named backup introduced within the first month. You can speak to our team if the timing or the match needs attention.

For families arranging company

You may live nearby or hundreds of miles away. Start by asking what your relative would enjoy, then involve them in the introduction. A visit they have chosen is different from one they feel has been decided for them.

With their agreement, written updates keep you informed about time together and anything to follow up. Read more about arranging support for someone else.

Alongside support already in place

Companionship can fit around family visits and other care. Tell us about the daily routine so we can agree useful times and make responsibilities clear. A companion adds company and practical help; personal care remains with the appropriate provider.

Time for the whole visit

An outing may need longer than a visit at home. We agree the hours and full cost, including any transport or activity expenses. Longer daytime visits and overnight company can be discussed too. Check the prices.
