Someone to share your week in Stockport.
One-to-one companionship for adults in Stockport. Company at home, practical help and a familiar person for the places you want to go.

What would you like to do together?
A conversation at home, a trip to the shops, an appointment or getting back to a group. We start with what you want company for and plan a visit around it. You can contact us yourself or help someone close to you get started.
Companionship is for adults of different ages. A younger person who wants company at the gym and an older person who misses going to the market may want different visits, but both deserve time shaped around their own interests.
Plan from your front door
Tell us where the visit would begin and where you want to go. We agree the journey, time at the activity and return, including access and any extra costs. For company at home, tell us what you enjoy and what practical help you would like.
We welcome enquiries from Cheadle, Bramhall, Marple, Hazel Grove and across Stockport. Give us your full postcode so we can confirm the arrangements for your address.
Keep something useful going
You may want regular company, support to attend a community activity or continuity after a short programme ends. We can discuss the routine you want and how visits fit alongside any other support. Read about continuing one-to-one support.
Planning company around a familiar routine
A useful starting point is the journey the person actually wants to make: a familiar shop, meeting a friend or returning to an activity. An address in Marple and one in Cheadle may both be in Stockport, but the destination, transport and time needed will differ. Plan from the person's front door, not from the borough name.
For example, a proposed visit could leave time for getting ready, a short café trip and returning without rushing. If the activity itself takes two hours, a two-hour companionship booking will not also cover the journey and settling back at home. Agree the whole visit before setting a budget.
If the issue is that a family carer cannot take a break, separate the company wanted from any personal care needed during that break. The person may benefit from companionship while the carer also needs advice or an assessment in their own right. That is why the Stockport resources below have different purposes.
An outing should answer “why this place?”
If the person likes the idea of Bruntwood Park in Cheadle, ask what they would enjoy there: a short time outdoors, a familiar route or simply sitting with company. The council's Bruntwood Park information is the reference for planning the destination. Confirm the particular facilities and access you need before travelling; a park's name alone does not establish suitability.
If they would rather be indoors, start with an interest and use the local activity information below. Age UK Stockport, carers support and council information serve different purposes. A family carer seeking advice should not have to work that out from an unexplained list of links.
For either option, agree the start and finish at home, what the person wants to do, the spending limit and an alternative. A companion can help make an agreed outing happen, but a worthwhile visit could equally be tea and conversation at home. The choice belongs to the person, not to a list of attractions.

Meet first, then agree the visits
We introduce a companion for a free meet-and-greet. Talk about what you enjoy, ask questions and decide how you get on. We agree the visit hours and price before paid visits begin. You have the same named companion, a named backup introduced within the first month and a written note after every visit.
With your agreement, updates can keep a relative or another contact informed. You can also manage the arrangement yourself.
The time and cost
Weekday visits are £28 an hour; evenings and weekends £35. Visit length is agreed at the meet-and-greet. Overnight and full-day visits are priced individually and confirmed in writing before you commit. Evening, weekend and holiday rates differ, and outings may include transport or activity costs.
Local information for a different or additional need
If regular company is the missing part of the week, talk to Whitegreen about a visit. The independent resources below are for particular questions that a companionship booking alone may not answer.
